Red Earth


Red Earth is open 7 days a week. They offer from Irish to Asian cuisine. While the deli offers a wide range of light lunch options from sumptuous traditional chicken pies to Italian inspired focaccia served with seasonal salads and sides. Their chefs create a number of specials everyday from mouth watering steaks to fresh sea bass. If you are in the mood for something with a bit more kick to it, their expert Asian chefs have a long list of Thai dishes. Watch the chefs cook up your very own at their Wok Station. For a sweet finish, they offer a number of desserts; fruity zests or rich with chocolate, scones and pastries. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Brunch is served on a Sunday.

Grogan’s originally established in 1750 and it feels as if the fundamentals haven’t changed too much since then. Moira and Miriam Grogan are your hosts and they preside over a wonderfully atmospheric traditional family pub and restaurant.
Through the small door entrance you are struck by the character and charm of the bar. The cozy front bar is divided in the traditional manner and has a lovely open fire, flag floor and a mixture of wood and brass furnishing. As you round the corner to the main restaurant there is another large open fire wide enough to accommodate Santa Claus.
The menu is varied and very good value and specialties include steaks and seafood dishes. Each dish has been imaginatively created; there is a sufficient choice to accommodate all tastes.

Restaurant is open from 12 to 9pm Monday to Saturday, 12 to 8pm Sundays and bank holiday Mondays.
Traditional ceili music is played each Friday night, three generations of the same talented family play and wandering musicians are always welcome.


Weirs Bar & Restaurant


Weirs is famous for its bar and food, served in a relaxed, family friendly atmosphere.
Weirs don’t open the restaurant on Monday or Tuesday , the bar opens at 6pm Monday and Tuesday,  open 12.30 to 8.30 pm Wednesday to Saturday.

Local attractions include the Franciscan Friary within the village, a beautiful church and gardens with outdoor statues of the Stations of the Cross originally built in 1827 and Lough Derravaragh lies to the east of the village which is the setting for one of the most famous and endearing Irish folklore stories ever – the Children of Lir.
