Ireland’s national game fair featuring great family entertainment including an action packed main arena; international country sports events; living history village; fine food village and a tented village of country living trade stands.

While the Fairs have the widest range of attractions, activities and the finest competitions to interest the most discerning hunting, shooting and fishing enthusiasts, the events are not just aimed at the traditional Game Fair attendance.

In addition to the traditional Game Fair attractions, the fairs have a huge range of entertaining and educational activities, displays and attractions to interest anyone who lives works or plays in the Irish countryside. In Birr Castle the Irish Game And Country Fair has a venue with virtually as many in situ attractions as it brings.

 

Killarney Cycling Festival 2015

We are welcoming cycling enthusiasts from all over Ireland on Saturday, August 29 to Killarney for the Wrong Way Round Killarney Cycling Festival where they will take on the infamous Ring of Kerry but in the opposite direction to the traditional anti-clockwise route.

Take on the part of The Wild Atlantic Way route and breathe in the breathtaking landscape from Molls Gap to Sneem, Waterville, Cahersiveen, Glenbeigh and Killorglin and onto the homeward stretch through Beaufort and onto Killarney.

The festival is open to all levels of cyclists and should be viewed as a leisure cycle rather than a race. There will be food stops dotted along the 160km route offering refreshments as well as designated water points to refill any empty bottles. Whats more there will be official festival road captains to accompany and guide you along the way. Participants will also have full use of The Aquila Club and Leisure Facilities both before and after the cycle at The Gleneagle Hotel.

PROMS ON THE PIER 2015 promises two full days of exceptional music in spectacular settings. What says summer cool more than a day at glistening Dun Laoghaire harbour with an ice-cream in hand and the best music of the 70s and 80s filling the air? 

On Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th August Dun Laoghaire harbour will come alive with the sweet sounds ofThe Proms Party Orchestra, 10 CC, Air Supply, Midge Ure, Johnny Logan, Phil Coulter, Bjorn Again, The Carpenters Love Songs, The Rat Pack, Melanie McCabe and The Eugene McCarthy Big Band & Singers. Set to the stunning backdrop of Dublin Bay, this intimate fully seated venue will feature five hours of live music each day, and a champagne tent, full bar and food facilities on site throughout the weekend.

It’s on again in 2015 – Stuck Inside of Moville, the DylanFest on the Lough, Ireland’s only annual festival of Bob Dylan music in Moville, Donegal. Moville, is a picturesque little town with a population of less than 1,500 situated in the countryside and on the shores of a salmon fishing sea lough.

 

Baltimore Deep Sea Angling Festival 2015

The festival is a boat fishing competition that has been taking place annually for nearly 50 years. It is held over the four days preceding the last Monday in August (the UK bank holiday) and is divided into one day’s shark fishing and three days’ bottom fishing. It attracts anglers from Ireland and abroad, many returning year after year, not just for the excellent fishing but also for the friendly atmosphere.

SugarBeat Festival is upping its game this year by bringing more amazing acts to the stage at Tuam Stadium at the end of August.

SugarBeat is set to bring some excellent headliners to Tuam, including The Stunning, Ryan Sheridan, Hometown and Original Rudeboys. Alongside these are established Irish acts such as Amazing Apples, Big Generator and Rackhouse Pilfer.

We’re really pleased to announce the 2015 Ukulele Hooley By The Sea will happening in Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin. Ukulele Hooley is Ireland’s international ukulele festival and this is its sixth year.
Over the past few years we’ve presented some the most talented ukulele performers and groups from around the world and 2015 will be no exception.

Among the many artists who’ve appeared at the Ukulele Hooley are Belgium’s Winin’ Boys, Ukulele ZaZa, Minnie & The Illywhackers, Andy Eastwood, Peter Moss, Ukulele Uff & Lonesome Dave, France’s Les Poupees Gonflee, Shine (from Spain), Gus and Finn Trio, Ukulele Red & Li’l Mamie Brown, The East River String Band, Ireland’s West Cork Ukulele Orchestra, Ukeristic Congress and Aisling Goes Walking, UK’s Hot Potato Syncopators and many other fine artists and groups.

The Doolin Irish Craft Beer Festival returns to Hotel Doolin for the 4th consecutive year on the 21st – 23rd August 2015. It features Irelands best craft beers from micro-breweries around the country, great Irish artisan food, and cracking live bands. This year however, we’ll have more beers, more food and more music. The event will showcase the best of Irish Craft Beers, featuring over 30 different beers from the best micro-breweries in Ireland including The Carlow Brewing Company, 8 Degrees Brewing, The Dungarvan Brewing Company, Metalman, Dingle Brewery, The Franciscan Well Brewery, Galway Hooker, Trouble Brewing, Rye River, White Hag & Stonewell Cider to name a few.

 

Sarsfields Day Festival Weekend 2015

A festival weekend in honour of Patrick Sarsfield and the heroic defenders of the walled city of Limerick in 1690 against William of Orange and his army, after the Battle of the Boyne. This year, we will be expanding the festival, to incorporate the Limerick Sail & Oar festival,which will include a reenactment of the ” Flight of  The Wild Geese ”.

Our pageant this year will include 100 costumed horsemen and band, riding through Limerick again, followed by a Sound & Light show and a  spectacular fireworks display on the river in front of King Johns castle, to re-enact the massive explosion created at Ballyneety in August 1690, which was heard in the hills of Clare and further afar.

The Charlie Chaplin Comedy Film Festival honours the pioneering spirit of a great film maker and advocate for social change. We are delighted to be holding the fifth annual CCCFF in August 2015 in the beautiful village of Waterville on the Ring of Kerry in the South West of Ireland. The festival includes a hugely entertaining range of events, screenings, workshops and Chaplin themed street entertainment and much, much more.

One of Ireland’s oldest street festivals – There are many legends which suggest an origin for the Fair, many of which are wildly inventive, but there is no written record stating when the Fair started. It can however be traced back to a charter from 1603 by King James I granting legal status to the existing fair in Killorglin.

Translated, its name means The Music Festival of Ireland and that is exactly what it is. The Fleadh, as it is usually called, is the largest single festival of Irish Music and can reach attendances of 400,000 over the course of nine eventful days.

The Fleadh is a competition for amateur musicians. From the mythical times to the present day there have been festivals in Ireland judging and celebrating the skills and arts of entertainers. The focus was always on individual ability and so it is to this day. Few places in the western world have managed to maintain their musical traditions as successfully as Ireland has. The Fleadh is the showcasing of this tradition as well as  a celebration of the individual skills of the competitors. It is a valuable testament to creativity. It is a celebration of the new ways for doing the old things. It is a great holiday. It is a big party.

NO VISIT TO IRELAND IS COMPLETE WITHOUT GOING TO THE FLEADH!!

 

Hands-on History – Medieval Life in Trim

Historic themed fun events will take place at the 750 year old Blackfriary in Trim in August 2015.

Visitors will meet the archaeologists uncovering the long lost friary while trying your hand at simulated archaeology and learning the art of excavation.

Meet characters from medieval Trim, the masons who crafted the church-land buildings, the healers who tended the sick with their leeches, unctions and potions, and the friars who ministered to the nobility and poor alike.

28 years ago a small festival started in the village of Feakle, County Clare. Feakle is a centre of traditional music in Ireland. That small start has now brought us to our 28th year, with visitors from all over the world coming to a festival that now has international recognition.

The musical tradition is kept alive all year round with regular sessions at Shortt’s Bar on Thursday nights and in Pepper’s Bar on Wednesday nights. Many impromptu sessions take place on other nights of the week throughout the village and concerts are regularly held at Pepper’s. The younger musicians are taken care of with top quality music teachers Mary McNamara and Vincent Griffin.

National Steam Rally 2015

The oldest steam rally in Ireland where over 30 steam engines give working demonstrations and numerous family events are held including a carnival, trade stands and steam train rides. Since 1966, all of these events have been held in the superb grounds of Stradbally Hall, Stradbally, Co. Laois by kind permission of three generations of the Cosby family. This is considered by many to be the premier event in the calendar of steam and vintage shows throughout Ireland. It attracts a wide range of working exhibits and a huge attendance of visitors.
