Day Four on Spike
We had a really long lecture in the morning to afternoon. One thing we learned that really stuck with me was that, when you do an excavation, you are disrupting the scene. So, you have to be very careful to do everything right since no one will be able to do it again. Once a site has been excavated, it is essentially ruined. The site can never be recreated.
At a little before four o’clock, we went outside and did some practice exercises for setting up a trench. A trench, for those of you who don’t know, is the section of ground that will be excavated. After that, we had dinner. It was my night to help put out the food and clean up after, but that wasn’t very eventful. Today, overall, was a nice rest, but we didn’t do a lot.
