Ireland Must Win Championship For Drico
A lot has been said and written about Brian O’ Driscoll’s last few games in the Ireland jersey. A true Irish rugby great, the likes of which we are unlikely to ever see again. Last Saturday, he broke the record for most international caps winning his 140th (132nd for Ireland, 8 for Lions) in the win against Italy.
Despite his place as the best player in the countries “Golden Generation” there must be a sense of what might have been. Since the 6 Nations added their 6th team (Italy) in 2000, Ireland have just won the championship once. The “Golden Generation” has won the tournament once in 14 years. When you consider two of the six teams aren’t championship contenders this is a poor return.
